Superior Court Watsonville Cuts Hours; Jury Trials Cancelled

In response to the continuing public safety challenges presented by coronavirus, the Superior Court of Santa Cruz County began limiting services earlier this week including cancelling jury trials and calling off jurors through April 17. The court is also moving to limit its services in Watsonville to reduce the number of employees coming to work and to encourage court users to stay at home during the shelter in place order issued by Santa Cruz County officials earlier in the week.

Starting on Tuesday, March 24, the Watsonville Courthouse at 1 Second St. will close its doors each weekday until April 10. The Clerk’s Office hours will be from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Some people may have afternoon court dates and those hearings will be postponed to another date with notices being sent to people by mail with new dates.

The Clerk’s Office and the Court’s Self-Help Center will continue to operate phone hours as usual and information about those hours is located at www.santacruzcourt.org, which has detailed information about changes to Family Law.

The Santa Cruz County Law Library is reducing hours to 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Law Library employees do answer phones and emails when open. Use of the Law Library after normal business hours is being suspended while the shelter in place order is in effect.
