Supporting the Local Yoga Community Through Change

The recent announcement that Breathe + Oneness Yoga Studio will close in early June may leave many community members searching for ways to maintain the routines, relationships, and wellness practices they value.

For years, Breathe + Oneness has served as a gathering place for people seeking healing, stress relief, connection, and personal growth. Through yoga classes, sound baths, reiki sessions, retreats, tea gatherings, and meaningful conversations, the studio became much more than a business — it became a home for many in the community.

Leslie and Carrie have offered heart, soul, and guidance to countless individuals throughout the past decade. Decisions like this are never easy, especially when a business is also deeply connected to family and community. I can only imagine the care and reflection that went into this transition, and I want to express heartfelt gratitude for all they have contributed to the wellness community in Santa Cruz County.

For many dedicated members, this change may feel deeply personal. Losing a familiar wellness space, trusted teachers, and daily connections can feel like grieving the loss of a family member or close friend. These feelings are real and deserve to be honored.

“We know how important a supportive yoga environment can be,” said Cindy Hill-Ford, owner of SoulCare Studios. “Many people build real friendships and healthy habits through these spaces, so when one closes, it impacts the entire community.”

At SoulCare Studios, we understand the importance of belonging and connection. Like Breathe + Oneness, we strive to create a welcoming and supportive wellness family where people feel seen, supported, and known. One member recently described SoulCare as “Cheers for the wellness community — everyone knows your name.”

Located only about 10 minutes away, SoulCare offers healing through movement, mental health services, functional medicine, reiki, sound healing, workshops, and community events designed to support the whole person.

“Our goal is simply to help people feel welcome,” Hill-Ford said. “Change can be difficult, but it can also become an opportunity to reconnect, heal, and continue growing.”

To support community members during this transition, SoulCare is offering a complimentary week of movement classes for anyone interested in exploring the studio and continuing their wellness journey.

Whether you choose to visit SoulCare or another local studio, please be gentle with yourself during this transition. Feel the feelings, stay connected to your community, and trust that new opportunities and meaningful connections can still emerge from change.
