Inaugural Food & Wine Tasting To Benefit Valley Churches United Missions
A benefit for Valley Churches United Missions, this “over-21” event features special “bites” and “sips” from 25 local restaurants, 10 wineries and private vintners, and four specialty breweries. Guests will experience the finest tastes from some of the area’s most popular restaurants. Specialties include: mini-eggrolls, cocktail prawns, crepes, cheese/bacon stuffed mushrooms, cranberry glazed meatballs, smoked salmon, cheesecakes, pastries, and much more.
KSCO radio personality Rosemary Chalmers; KPIG’s Sleepy John Sandidge; Assembly Member Mark Stone, and 5th District Supervisor Bruce McPherson are among those pouring wine and serving bites. Soul Doubt, a popular Santa Cruz jazz & rhythm and blues band, will perform.
“Tasting Under The Redwoods” tickets are $40 and may be purchased online at Eventbrite.com_. Early reservations are encouraged as tickets are limited. (If available, tickets will be $45 on the day of event.)

For over 30 years, the non-profit Valley Churches United Missions has been serving the San Lorenzo Valley and surrounding communities, providing supplemental food to low-income households throughout the year. VCUM also provides emergency disaster assistance, crisis rent, mortgage and utility assistance, as well as medical assistance to qualifying clients. Well known for their Christmas project as well as special Thanksgiving, Easter and school backpack programs, VCUM reaches out to over 500 households each month. All this is done with no government funding, over 200 volunteers, and a staff of less than three paid positions.
