Organizers bring the Christmas Tree farm to Scotts Valley for families to select a farm-fresh tree and donate to their children’s school, simultaneously.

In the last nine years, more than 140,000 dollars has been raised with the annual event and donated to local schools by this all-volunteer organization made up of community members, parents and teachers. Proceeds have funded school libraries, counseling services, teacher training, music programs and technology improvements.

“Our Christmas tree lot is a true community effort in support of our schools,” said Derek Timm, SVEF president and master chain saw operator. “Not only do our net proceeds support essential programs for our schools, but our primary source of volunteers are high school and middle school students donating community service hours to help lift, cut, and tie trees on their way to brighten homes throughout Scotts Valley.”

Timm recalls, “A couple years ago, one of our volunteers helped strap a tree onto the handlebars of a man’s red bicycle, who rode off with a wave and a twinkle in his eye. Hmmm…”

This year’s trees are located at 5060 Scotts Valley Drive on the corner of El Pueblo in the Boys and Girls Club parking lot. It opened the day after Thanksgiving with weekend hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. through December 23 or until all trees are sold!

Alpine, Douglas Fir and Noble trees from 2 ft. to 10 ft. high, as well as wreaths and tree stands are available. On December 3 during lunch hour, the tree lot features Food Trucks a GoGo with G’s Mexican tacos, serving a variety of authentic Mexican dishes, the following Saturday.
