Fourth Suspect Being Sought

Sergeant Stefan Fish, GTF Supervisor

On April 4th, 2014 members of the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team Narcotics and Gang Task Forces conducted an undercover drug solicitation operation in various areas of the City of Santa Cruz.

Three people were caught in the operation, including Terry Spann, a 49-year-old Watsonville resident; Thomas Kehler, a 58-year-old Watsonville resident; and Eric Cash, a 39-year-old transient.

The Santa Cruz Police Department and the Narcotics Task Force have received numerous complaints about drug dealing in various areas of the City of Santa Cruz.

An undercover police officer was sent out to various areas throughout the city to attempt to solicit persons for controlled substances such as methamphetamine, heroin or cocaine.  Within minutes of the start of the operation the undercover officer contacted a transient male on the Pacific Garden Mall who facilitated a purchase of methamphetamine from another male.  The facilitator was identified as Kevin Jones.  Jones is currently on Post Release Community Supervison.  The methamphetamine dealer was identified as Terry Spann.  The undercover officer met Spann on the foot bridge leading from Felker St. to the Gateway Plaza. Jones had left the area prior to the deal occurring.  Spann was arrested, along with Thomas Kehler for possession of controlled substances for sales.  In all Spann possessed approximately 18 grams of suspected Methamphetamine.

Later in the operation the undercover officer solicited a transient male, later identified as Eric Cash in the parking lot of the CVS store on Front Street.  Cash sold suspected Methamphetamine to the officer and was subsequently arrested.

Spann, Kehler and Cash were booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail for possession of controlled substances with the intent to sell.

A warrant is being sought for the arrest of Kevin Jones for his role in the drug sale.
