Watsonville Native Goes in Second Round
The St. Francis High School alum started 42 of the 48 games he played for the Fort Collins Colorado based CSU Rams. After playing several positions in the offensive line his sophomore year, Sambrailo settled in as the team’s left tackle; a position considered by many as the most difficult for offensive linemen.
Both Ty’s parents attended mile-high universities with father Mark graduating from Colorado University in Boulder Colorado and his mother Karen from the University of Denver. His older brother Erik also graduated from CU.
Ty’s father Mark said that his alma mater, CU, had the opportunity to select Ty but hesitated and CSU stepped in. “It was the right decision. Ty had a great college experience in Fort Collins. NFL draft day was crazy. We expected the second round but when the Denver Broncos made their selection everyone went nuts. We believe that Ty will be able to step into a starting position at Right Tackle but the competition will be tough.”
When Ty is playing his job will be helping to protect one of the greats of the game, Peyton Manning. Can’t wait for the season to start.
