Highway 35 Traffic Control to Remain; Additional Work Planned on Hwy 9/236
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY — Hwy. 35 (Bear Creek Road), just north of Zayante Rd. (PM 2.67) is now open with one-way reversing traffic control. Final work at this location is now underway.
Hwy. 35 from the intersection of Hwy. 35/Bear Creek Road and the intersection of Hwy. 35/Bear Creek Road with Summit Road is being paved with completion scheduled for tomorrow evening.
- In addition, Caltrans will continue work on State Route 9 between Santa Cruz and Felton with the full closure remaining in place. This roadwork will include repairs of cracks and slip outs in various locations. This section of State Route 9 is expected to re-open by March 31, weather permitting.
- Caltrans will also repair a slip out on State Route 236, just south of the Junction of State Route 9/Watermans Gap. This section of highway will be fully closed Monday, March 20 until Friday, March 24 so Caltrans can work 24 hours a day at this location. Electronic message boards will be posted to inform the public about this closure.
In addition, there is a full closure on State Route 35 from just north of Black Rd. (PM 9) to Castle Rock Road (PM 11.5) due to a major washout. It is unknown when this section of highway will re-open.
