Unknown-2

·         ALERT:  The second concrete pour for the top deck of the new bridge will take place on Thursday, June 27 beginning at 7:00 am. Concrete trucks will again start on the ocean side of La Fonda, but will not need to work from the mountain side of La Fonda at Oak Way as they will pump the concrete from the highway construction area below, hence, no congestion is expected at La Fonda and Oak Way.

·         Crews will continue to work on the deck of the new bridge following a 10-day curing period after the concrete pour.  However, PG&E construction crews will be working at the bridge approaches over the next 2 weeks re-connecting the gas line running through the bridge.

·         Another highway closure will take place in mid-July to remove the steel and wood support beams.  The highway will be closed in one direction each night from late night to early in the morning to complete this work. A separate eNews update will be sent when the exact dates are known.

·         The date to reopen the bridge is currently scheduled before the end of August; more to come.

SOUNDWALLS

·         Crews are installing rebar and the concrete footing for structural support of soundwall #2 west of La Fonda Avenue bridge.
·         The blocks for the entire stretch of soundwall on the northbound side of the highway will be set over the next five weeks. Scaffolding will be used to reach the upper level of the soundwall.

LANDSCAPING

·         Landscaping work has already begun with the laying out of irrigation lines in the large landscaped area of the Morrissey Boulevard Interchange and on the southbound slope.
·         Landscaping work will continue for the next several months and will be the final phase of work, including a plant establishment period of at least one year to improve the survival rate of the new plants – which includes 100 new redwoods through the area.

SCHEDULE

·         Crews are scheduled to be working on July 5th and some weekends to complete the project.  Thanks Team!
·         The new La Fonda Avenue Bridge is scheduled to be complete before the end of August.
·         The new auxiliary lanes between Morrissey Boulevard and Soquel Drive are scheduled to be open in late September.
