· HWY CLOSURE ALERT: One direction of Highway 1 will be fully closed between Soquel Drive and Morrissey Boulevard to remove the beams and forms (falsework) that span the highway on the following nights:
o Friday night, July 12 from 11 pm to 6 am – Full closure of northbound and one lane of southbound Hwy 1o Saturday night, July 13 from 10 pm to 7 am – Full closure of southbound and one lane of northbound Hwy 1o (Only if needed) Sunday night, July 14 from 10 pm to 5 am – Full closure of southbound and one lane of northbound Hwy 1o Traffic will be detoured onto Morrissey Boulevard and Soquel Drive.
· Next steps for the new bridge include construction of the backwall, completing the abutments and approach slabs for the roadway, and installation of the barrier rails/fencing on the outside edge of the bridge and the sidewalks.
· A low key La Fonda Bridge re-opening event will be held in August (in advance of the Ribbon Cutting event to be held later in the fall when the full project is complete). Event dates are dependent on completion of construction tasks, more details to follow.SOUNDWALLS
· Installation of blocks for all three soundwalls is currently underway and expected to continue into August.
SLOW FOR THE CONE ZONE
Speeds on the highway through the project area are reduced to 55 MPH, with traffic fines doubled in the construction zone. Please drive safely, use the zipper method to merge, exercise caution in construction and school zones, and allow extra travel time.
