The Santa Cruz Wharf will temporarily close beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, to conduct urgent repairs to a water main beneath the Wharf structure. The Wharf is expected to reopen for normal business operations on the morning of Friday, March 28, 2025.
Water main breaks are a normal part of maintaining Wharf infrastructure. As with any structure exposed to the elements and constant use, routine wear and tear can lead to occasional disruptions and the need for timely repairs. The City is committed to keeping the Wharf safe, functional, and reliable for the many businesses, visitors, and community members who depend on it.
“We understand the impact closures can have on Wharf businesses and the community. City staff from Parks and Recreation, the Water Department, and contractors are working around the clock to make the repairs and reopen in time for the weekend foot traffic,” said Parks and Recreation Director, Tony Elliot. “We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding during this essential infrastructure work.”
