The Annual Parent Conference is organized by The Pajaro Valley Unified School District, Educational Services Division, in partnership with the County Office of Education, PVUSD Migrant Education Region 11, Extended Learning: Family Literacy Project, and First 5 Santa Cruz County. The conference provides parents with information and tools to support their children’s academic and social development.
Poet Laureate of Los Angeles and best-selling author Luis J. Rodriguez will be the keynote speaker. Mr. Rodriguez will also facilitate a workshop during the conference. This year, parents will have the opportunity to participate in three different workshops. The workshops offered at this year’s conference are:

- How to Have Fun with Reading at Home While Addressing Some Common Core Standards
- Communicating with Your Children
- Pride in Our Mixteco Language (presented only in Mixteco)
- Supporting Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Students at Home and in the Classroom
- What Are The Common Core Math Standards and How Can I Help My Child?
- University: Make it Happen!
- Gangs: How to Prevent/Discourage Your Children From Becoming Involved
- Culture Cures
- The Power of Self – Esteem (all ages)
- “It Doesn’t Have to Be This Way”: Using the Book Given to You at Home
Free Continental Breakfast
Free childcare for children 3-11 years. Register your child in the morning at Linscott School on 220 Elm St. Space is limited. Breakfast, age level appropriate activities and snacks provided.
Community resource fair with local community agencies for your family from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.
