“Before Aggressive Driving Gets Everyone Stopped”
The BADGES program is a traffic safety partnership amongst Santa Cruz County law enforcement agencies. Each month, officers from Santa Cruz PD, Scotts Valley PD, Capitola PD, Watsonville PD, UCSC PD and the California Highway Patrol cooperatively focus enforcement efforts on a specific location(s) and traffic concerns.
On January 14, 2013, as many return to school from winter break, officers from these agencies will team up to focus enforcement near a critical and delicate portion of our infrastructure – School Zones. Throughout the county, officers will work to encourage safe driving by monitoring traffic and taking appropriate enforcement action. Officers will be especially focused on traffic during critical drop off and pick up times.
We would like to encourage drivers to avoid being part of our BADGES enforcement activity by reminding them to exercise caution, leave extra time for their commute and to be patient when caught in school related congestion.
