The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk has joined the ranks of Disney and most conventions across the country in choosing to close to the public for the time being.
Beginning today, Friday, March 13, the park will not have rides, games or stores open to the public and the Cocoanut Grove will not host any events. The Boardwalk Bowl will be open Friday and Saturday, but will shut it’s doors Sunday.
The current plan is to have everything reopen Friday, March 27.
Here is the official announcement by the Seaside Company:
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Response to COVID‑19
March 12, 2020
After much deliberation, and out of an abundance of caution for the health and well-being of our valued employees and guests, we have decided to temporarily close the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Boardwalk Bowl and the Boardwalk’s Cocoanut Grove event facility from March 13 through March 27, 2020
We have not arrived at this decision lightly. We are following the recent guidelines put out by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) regarding mass gatherings. We are confident this decision is in the best long-term interest of our employees and guests.
Thank you for your understanding.
