The City of Santa Cruz Public Works Department has contracted with Granite Rock Company to construct the Wharf Intersection Roundabout at the Beach Street and Pacific Avenue intersection at the entrance to the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf. Work is scheduled to begin this Thursday, Oct. 9, and is expected to be completed by the end of February 2015 barring adverse weather and unforeseen conditions. The intersection will remain open during construction with minimal traffic delays. Wharf and beach restaurants and shops will also stay open with regular hours for the duration of the project.
Beach area parking lot #18 near the National Marine Sanctuary Exploration Center will be used as a construction staging area and therefore closed throughout most of the project. The Cowell Beach parking lot is expected to remain open during most of the project, however, a few parking spaces will be removed during construction periods.
The City of Santa Cruz apologizes for any inconvenience during the construction process and appreciates the public’s cooperation.
