A 45-year-old man crossing Mission Street at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, died after a vehicle crashed into him, according to Santa Cruz police.
The pedestrian lived in Santa Cruz County, police said, withholding his identity until next of kin are notified.
The collision occurred at the intersection with King Street where the man was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk, police said.
First responders administered life-saving measures to the pedestrian, who was taken to Dominican Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Santa Cruz Police traffic investigators have been processing the collision scene and the Santa Cruz County
Sheriff-Coroner will complete the death investigation.

The fatal collision comes in the wake of the city of Santa Cruz being awarded an $85,000 state grant for efforts to reduce deaths and injuries on the road.
