Democratic Women’s Club hosts Sept. 15 Zoom on State Propositions

On Sept. 15 at 6:30 p.m., the Democratic Women’s Club of Santa Cruz County will host a Zoom event about the statewide propositions appearing on the November ballot. The event will feature summaries and analysis presented by longtime local politician John Laird, as well as pro and con arguments and Q&A with the attendees.

The goal is to help voters become more informed about their choices in this year’s election. Based on his research and knowledge of state government and politics, Laird will explain each of 12 propositions on the ballot and will go into detail about the intent of each proposition, potential unintended consequences, proponents and opponents, and more.

A graduate of UC Santa Cruz and resident of Santa Cruz, John Laird has served as Santa Cruz city councilmember and mayor, Cabrillo College trustee, State Assemblymember, and California secretary for natural resources. He is currently a candidate for California State Senate.
