Excellence In Financial Reporting for SLV Water District

BOULDER CREEK — The San Lorenzo Valley Water District (SLVWD) announced Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada has awarded the district with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2016.

The award was given in recognition of SLVWD’s comprehensive annual financial report for 2016, which was completed as part of the district’s Strategic Plan.

“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” said Todd Buikema, acting director of the Technical Services Center for GOFA.

GOFA also recognized Stephanie Hill, SLVWD’s Director of Finance and Business Services, with an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement.

“We take very seriously our responsibility to be stewards of both our local watershed and the funds provided by our ratepayers,” said SLVWD District Manager Brian Lee. “It’s an honor to be recognized by GFOA for our work on behalf of our ratepayers. I’m especially proud to see Stephanie Hill’s dedication recognized in this way.”

The GFOA certificate follows the 2016-2018 District Transparency Certificate of Excellence awarded to SLVWD by the Special District Leadership Foundation of California in recognition of the district’s outstanding efforts to promote transparency and good governance.

The San Lorenzo Valley Water District serves more than 7,800 metered connections. Established in 1941, the district supplies water to the communities of Boulder Creek, Brookdale, Ben Lomond, Zayante, Scotts Valley, Mañana Woods, Felton and Lompico.
