Former Convict Iran Perez Arrested by Joint County Task Force, SCPD
On April 18, fugitive Iran Perez, 31, was arrested after a two-day search following an initial attempt to bring him in on drug-related charges. At the time of his arrest he was found with a “substantial” quantity of illegal drugs.
The hunt began after he escaped a raid by the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team Gang Task Force and Narcotics Task Force, assisted by the Santa Cruz Police Department Emergency Services Unit on April 16. Perez fled the scene, but the GTF recovered reported recovering two handguns and what was describes as a substantial amount of methamphetamine drugs from his belongings.
GTF was finally able to track him down to a room at the Rio Sands Motel in Aptos, where he was arrested without further incident. His possession of a firearm carries extra weight because of his prior prison term.
Perez’s arrest marks the third gun seizure by the Gang Task Force in 2014.
