aa-TeenageMinds_6_grade_UC Teenage Brain Times Publishing Group Inc tpgonlinedaily.comAdriana Galvan, Ph.D. is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology and Brain Research Institute of University of California, Los Angeles where she is the Director and Principal Investigator of the Developmental Neuroscience Laboratory. Dr. Galvan’s expertise is in adolescent brain development.

Insight into the Teenage Brain, Dr. Galvan will discuss her research that aims to uncover the neurobiology underlying characteristic teenage behavior, such as risk-taking, exploration and thrill seeking.

Her goal is to better understand the opportunities and vulnerabilities that accompany adolescent brain and behavioral development and will present findings for parents and students.  She will also include her most recent research about the impact of sleep deprivation in teenage brain development.

Aptos High School, along with Pacific Collegiate School, is committed to bringing educational presentations for our school communities to support well balanced and healthy teen development.

The first in the series was Parenting for Authentic Success, with Madeline Levine, Ph.D. co-founder of Challenge Success, a project of the Stanford Graduate School of Education.  Dr. Levine spoke to a full house about the current paradigm of education success and ways to support authentic academic achievements
