SANTA CRUZ – On Saturday, September 27 at 9:00 am, the Democratic Women’s Club will present a talk with former Assemblymember and current State Secretary of Natural Resources, John Laird. He will discuss the State Propositions on the November Ballot. The event will take place at Louden Nelson Center at 301 Center Street in Santa Cruz.
He will explain the details of
Proposition 1, $7.12 billion Water Bond;
Proposition 2, Governor’s ‘rainy day’ fund increase from 5% to 10%;
Proposition 45, Public notice required for insurance company rates initiative;
Proposition 46, Increase the cap on damages that can be assessed in medical negligence lawsuits to over $1 million;
and Proposition 47, Reduces the penalty for most nonviolent crimes from a felony to a misdemeanor.
