Santa Clara County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin work today to grind and pave the roadway on SR-152 about 20 miles east of Gilroy from Pacheco Creek in Santa Clara to the Merced County line near Dinosaur Point Road. The primary hours of operation during the weekdays will be from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. in the westbound direction (two lanes) and 11:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the eastbound direction (two lanes). This is the four lane highway and Caltrans will close only one of two lanes in each direction using message signs and cones to block the closed lane. Caltrans will always keep at least one lane on either side during this project. Lane closures are also possible from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the westbound direction during the weekdays. Some weekend work is possible during the evening and early morning from 7 p.m. Saturday to 10:00 a.m. Sunday.
The project will be completed in August, 2016.
Advance warning changeable message signs will be in place to assist motorists. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through the area and please “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
