A 40-year-old Watsonville man suffered major injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Green Valley Road on the night of Dec. 7, the California Highway Patrol reported.
CHP officers said they were called to Watsonville Hospital late Sunday evening, where they contacted the injured pedestrian. Investigators determined the man had been walking eastbound on Green Valley Road, east of Pioneer Road, between 9 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. when he was struck by an unknown vehicle, possibly a sedan, traveling in the same direction.
The vehicle fled the scene, according to the CHP. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
CHP is asking anyone with information to contact the agency’s Santa Cruz office at 831-219-0200 on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., or the Monterey Communications Center at 831-796-2160 after hours.
