A 70-Mile Ride To Support Childhood Cancer Foundation
Rally in the Redwoods is set for Saturday, September 10, 2016. This ride is a community event that brings cyclists of all abilities together powered by one inspirational cause — FIGHTING PEDIATRIC CANCER!
Participants in this ride are raising funds for Team G Childhood Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families fighting pediatric cancer and funding new and innovative treatments to ultimately cure childhood cancer; 100% of funds raised go to Team G Foundation and its beneficiaries: UC Santa Cruz Treehouse Childhood Cancer Initiative, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
The ride will take you on 50 or 70 miles of the most scenic roads that Santa Cruz County has to offer.
Online registration is available through Velo Cruz Cycling. Participants have a few different registration options: Cycle and lunch after party is $100 or $75; adult lunch after party is $40; child lunch after party is $15 (individual rider goal of $500 is encouraged). The ride begins at Patagonia, 415 River St., Santa Cruz, CA. On the morning of the race, check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. for the 50 or 70-mile route with a ride start of 9:00 a.m. Riders can look forward to a fully supported event with support vehicles, aid stations and safety personnel. Upon completion of the ride, participants are treated to a fun-filled afternoon with lunch catered by Stanford University Chef, Fredy H de Mendoza and also live music by the band Bits and Pieces. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a silent raffle with all proceeds donated to Team G. Foundation.
Team G Childhood Cancer Foundation is a national 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families fighting pediatric cancer and funding new and innovative treatments to ultimately cure childhood cancer.
With less than 4% of the National Cancer Institutes total budget allocated to all 12 types of pediatric cancers, there is a great need for further resources to bring cutting edge cancer treatments for children fighting cancer. Team G is partnering with our beneficiaries — the top pediatric cancer centers on the west coast to support clinical trials and childhood cancer research to fund less toxic treatments and ultimately find a cure.
