SCOTTS VALLEY, CA – The non-profit Regional Artisans Association (RAA) is holding a Halloween Sidewalk Festival and Silent Auction on Saturday night, October 26, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The festival will take place throughout the back of the Kings Village Shopping Center and is co-hosted by Scotts Valley Artisans, Choi’s Tae Kwon Do, Jesse Gabriel Photography and Bruno’s Restaurant. This is RAA’s third annual fundraiser, and proceeds will support its four primary programs: Mural-in-a-Day, SantaCruzArtists.com, Scotts Valley Artisans, and Art in Public Places.
Over 100 items have been donated for the evening’s silent auction, including original artwork created by local artists, Disneyland passes, area restaurant and hotel gift certificates, fitness center packages, cosmetic dentistry packages, Redwood Canopy zip-line tours, kayaking outings, Kuumbwa Jazz tickets, a San Francisco 49ers 2012 NFC Championship Commemorative Football, and many other activity and event passes.
Local winery 37th Parallel will be providing tastings and wine by the glass, and music will be provided by jRJ Rauche, Greg Powers, and Grant “G-Stone. Euphrasia Carroll and Belinda Clements will offer tarot card readings, and additional entertainment will be announced soon.
The Regional Artisans Association’s mission is to expand the reach and elevate the profile of artists and the arts in Santa Cruz County.
Santa Cruz County has the fifth largest population of artists per capita in the United States, according to a survey published in Atlantic Magazine in November, 2011 (numbers 1-4 on this list are Santa Fe, NM, San Francisco, New York City, and Los Angeles). RAA’s programming was created to measurably increase the art buying audience for our huge population of local artists in two ways: 1) “branding” Santa Cruz County as an internationally recognized art destination, and 2) expanding Santa Cruz County’s arts infrastructure to more effectively promote and showcase the vast artistic resources that already exist in our County, insuring that art tourists and art buyers have the extensive choice of exhibitions and art venues they’ll demand in order to spend time and money in our County.
