After class Tim Bonanno takes a moment to reflect on the past week, “I have slept a total of about 6 hours in the past 3 days” he spouts. Others in the class can relate to his predicament. It is only days before the Regional Occupational Program (ROP) Film Festival at Aptos High School and the students are intently wrapping up production in eager anticipation for the moment they can share their creative vision on the big screen.
From script writing, acting, filming, sound engineering and editing, the ROP Video Production class has prepared these students for their moment to shine. Come to the film festival this Friday, May 31st at 7pm in the Preforming Arts Center at Aptos High and see for yourself the future in film.
About the Santa Cruz County Regional Occupational Program
The Santa Cruz County Regional Occupational Program (ROP) provides students with the opportunity to acquire career training and technical skills that prepare them for success in a changing workplace and continuing education. ROP, a Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accredited program of the Santa Cruz County Office of Education offered in cooperation with county high school districts and the local business community provides job training for youth 16 and older. ROP works closely with local employers and many classes offer on-the-job training (internship). While there is no formal placement process, follow-up studies of our students indicate program completers have a high rate of job placement.
