Santa Cruz Playground Project Announces Major Donation

scplayground_krassow-donation Major Donation Times Publishing Group Inc tpgonlinedaily.comThe Santa Cruz Playground Project announced a sizeable donation from the R-H Santa Cruz Youth Foundation, a local children’s charitable foundation, toward the creation of LEO’s Haven at Chanticleer Park, an inclusive playground designed to meet the needs of local children of all abilities.

The Foundation, created by Randy Krassow, owner of Santa Cruz Memorial Park & Funeral Home, donated $5,000 to sponsor playground equipment for LEO’s Haven.

Janet Krassow, Director of the Foundation stated, “Our foundation was set up exclusively to benefit programs for the youth of Santa Cruz County. This project, which is designed to provide all children access to benefits of play while teaching the essential lessons of compassion, awareness, and acceptance, is an important asset to our community’s youth.”

Since the fundraising effort was announced, numerous local residents, businesses and nonprofits have contributed time, resources and money toward establishing the County’s first all-inclusive playground.

The Santa Cruz Playground Project is a grassroots effort driven by Bob and Tricia Potts of Watsonville, Calif. They have three children: Lauren, Evelyn, and Oliver. Oliver uses a wheelchair for mobility. They are the founders of the Santa Cruz Playground Project; a group of volunteers who are working in a public-private partnership with Shane’s Inspiration, the County of Santa Cruz, and the Chanticleer Park Neighbors Association to design, fundraise, and build LEO’s Haven at Chanticleer Park.
