SANTA CRUZ – Get on board the classic Santa Cruz Trolley for only twenty‐five cents throughout this summer! The trolley begins daily service this Saturday, May 25, from 11AM to 9PM. The trolley leaves the historic Del Mar Theater every 30 minutes on the hour (:00) and half hour (:30) to bring you to the beach, and then leaves the entrance to the Santa Cruz Wharf at 126 Beach St at quarter after (:15) and quarter of (:45) each hour to bring you back Downtown.
The Santa Cruz Trolley is the best way to get back and forth between the beach and downtown. Park downtown and easily get to the Monterey Bay Exploration Center, the Municipal Wharf, Main Beach, and the Boardwalk and still have time to shop and dine in the Downtown without the traffic hassles. The trolley is a convenient, ADA‐accessible, 1930s replica with real wood benches and brass trim inside and out. Hearing the clang of the bell, kids especially love the Santa Cruz Trolley experience.
The operation costs of the trolley are funded by the generosity of local business sponsorships, the twenty‐five cent fares, The City of Santa Cruz, and a generous grant from the Monterey Bay Air Quality Pollution Control District.
Now in its third year, the trolley not only increases visitor sales and the use of remote parking but also reduces traffic and emissions with the compressed natural gas vehicle, creating another fun attraction to draw people to Santa Cruz. In 2012 over 36,000 riders used the trolley to experience the downtown, beach and wharf areas.
Hop on board the Santa Cruz Trolley this Memorial Day Weekend and throughout the beautiful summer!
