Storm-Weakened Tree Crushes Parked Cars in Aptos
Photos by Karen Nevis
Wind and rain from the latest storms had weakened a giant tree in Aptos which suddenly fell about 11:45 a.m. Friday, March 11. It broke apart landing in three huge sections onto both the railroad tracks and the 8000 block of Aptos Street across the street from Caroline’s and the Aptos Street BBQ.
Witnesses heard a loud cracking sound as the tree fell and when they went to see what had happened, found an Acura RSX and a 2006 Scion xB on Aptos street had been crushed. Fortunately there were no injuries because both cars had been parked with no one in them when the tree fell.
