Golf at Scotts Valley High, at least among the Boys, is strong and growing. Next season the Scotts Valley boy’s team will be lead by three returning senior players: Ben Edens, Jake Utic, and Owen Rockow. These three won’t be alone. There are 7 other returning players, four with varsity experience, and that’s not counting any incoming freshman. There were enough players this past season to schedule JV matches and were a great opportunity the younger players to get some match experience and will mean increased competition for playing spots next season. With all this talent, the Falcons promise to be a strong team in the SCCAL next season.
After a four-year hiatus, the search is on for girl’s players to form a new girl’s team. Long-time coach Rich Hager put it succinctly when he pointed out “the girl’s teams at Scotts Valley have been strong historically. Get the word out, we’re looking for girls at Scotts Valley High to form a team to compete this fall”.
Come out and support the golf programs at our local high school. You’ll meet some fine young players that will be grateful for your support.
