Meet the Author at Porter Memorial Library
On January 14 at 10:30 am, the Porter Memorial Library located at 3050 Porter Street welcomes to our series local author Terri Morgan. Journalist at the Santa Cruz Sentinel, Terri Morgan kicks off our Meet the Author Series.
Playing the Genetic Lottery is Terri Morgan’s first book. As a child she was confused and embarrassed by her parents’ behavior. As an adult, she fears she may inherit their devastating mental disorders. This gripping novel follows her life as she struggles to cope with her chaotic childhood, come to terms with mental illness and the toll it has had on her family, and discovers ways to thrive and start a family of her own.
Poignant, serious, and at times full of wit and humor, the novel shines a light on mental illness, and dispels many of the myths about schizophrenia—a disease that affects one out of every 100 people worldwide.
Meticulously researched, this novel accurately depicts how schizophrenia impacts mental health consumers and the people who love them. This engaging novel will have you rooting for this strong and brave young woman from the first page.
Terri is widely published on diverse topics including sports biographies and photography.
The public is invited to the free “Meet the Author Fireside Chats” at the Porter Memorial Library. These are informal coffee hours set around the fireplace. They feature local authors who discuss their works and answer questions from the audience. Refreshments and coffee will be served, with The Ugly Mug providing the coffee. Limited parking is available behind the library. Enter from Soquel Drive into The Bagelry parking lot and drive through to the left.
