The Black Lives Matter protests that continue in our country and those this movement is inspiring around the world are shining light on the need to examine deep problems in our society and unite to say enough is enough so that we can begin the hard work of building a better future.
Protecting our life-giving ocean is an integral part of realizing a world that is safe, equitable, and sustainable for all. We hope you will join us this week as we hold space for Black Lives while inspiring ocean awareness and activism.
Because our ocean is under attack.
From climate change to plastic pollution and wildlife disturbance to habitat degradation, a host of threats challenge the well being of your Monterey Bay.
At Save Our Shores, we work hard every day to protect and conserve our precious local marine environment and address those threats. We inform and educate the public, foster the next generation of ocean stewards, promote smarter marine environmental policies, and motivate and catalyze citizen action on a daily basis.
Beginning with a fun lineup of family-friendly virtual events on “World Oceans Day” (Monday, June 8), Save Our Shores’ Oceans Week will promote the ongoing ocean awareness and advocacy that’s crucial—especially during times of crisis.
