Water Conservation: Aptos Village part 2

High Efficiency Appliances & Fixtures Throughout Commercial & Residential Buildings

Barry Swenson Builder (BSB) announced the design for the Aptos Village Project includes water-saving features in all aspects of the development, including the interiors of the homes and businesses to ensure water conservation and promote good water stewardship into the future.

Residential: Townhomes and condominiums will be outfitted with ultra high-efficiency toilets (0.8 gallons-per-fill), faucets (1.0 gallons-per-minute), and showerheads (1.5 gpm). They also will have preinstalled washer/dryer units with a water factor of 4.5 or less, the highest water savings available. This will exceed the platinum rating for Soquel Creek Water District’s “Go Green” program.

Prospective tenants for the 15 stores and four restaurants are local, small business owners who understand the need to conserve water.

Water Meters: Aptos Village Project has consolidated water meters to improve leak detection and reduces the number of pipes that could potentially leak. This also decreases trip hazards and eliminates unsightly backflow prevention devices.

Water Demand Offsets: BSB participated in the Soquel Creek Water District Water Demand Offset Program to conserve up to 200 percent of the future annual demand of the Aptos Village Project by replacing water fixtures throughout the District with low-flow, high-efficiency models.
