The City of Capitola, in collaboration with the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission, and the County of Santa Cruz, invites the public to attend a Town Hall meeting Wednesday, April 2, to discuss Segments 10 and 11 of the County-wide Rail Trail Project.
The meeting will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at New Brighton Middle School Performing Arts Center, 250 Washburn Ave., Capitola.
The Town Hall will provide Capitola residents and stakeholders with an opportunity to learn about the plans for Segment 10 and 11 of the Rail Trail project, the use of the Capitola Trestle, the Park Avenue Trail Realignment, available funding, future maintenance, and the timeline for upcoming project milestones.
Capitola city staff say the meeting will follow a structured agenda to encourage inclusive community engagement and ensure all voices are heard.
The schedule includes a joint presentation by Capitola city staff, the RTC, and Santa Cruz County to outline the project’s key components and a 45-minute public comment session. Informational materials will be posted on the City’s website by March 21 for public review.
To enhance accessibility and transparency, there are multiple ways for the public to participate:
- Pre-Submit Questions: Submit questions online through the City’s portal from March 19 to March 31. All questions will be reviewed by City staff and made publicly available. City staff will identify common themes and prepare answers to be shared at the meeting.
- Attend In Person: Come to the New Brighton Middle School Performing Arts Center.
- Watch Virtually: Watch a recording after the meeting on the City’s website or YouTube Channel.
