On 5/15/13, Deputies initiated a burglary investigation that occurred of Caudill Rd., Corralitos. After the victim/homeowner was away on vacation, he returned to find his home had been victimized. Furniture, linens, lamps, kitchen items, a claw foot bathtub, toilet, coins, a wood burning stove, washing machine and dryer, tools, power yard tools, wine, jewelry, a Mercedes, a 1967 Mustang (still missing) and a Ford Ranger were among the items taken from the house. The house was essentially cleared of anything of value. The estimated loss and damages was estimated at more than $100,000.00. 
On 6/12/13, Sheriff’s Office detectives received a tip that a subject, later identified as Mark Trinidad, was attempting to sell a trailer full of items including a claw foot bathtub to a local antique store. The store thought the subject was suspicious, obtained his contact information and telephoned the Sheriff’s Office. Posing as a potential buyer of the bathtub, Sheriff’s Office detectives arranged to meet with Trinidad and positively identified the bathtub as stolen from the Caudill Rd. burglary.
Upon contact, Trinidad was arrested for possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine. A search of his vehicle yielded a handgun. After a search of his trailer, detectives determined that many items from the Caudill Rd. burglary were present including furniture and tool cabinets.
Detectives served a search warrant at Trinidad’s residence in Hollister. His home was decorated with items from the Caudill Rd. home. Stolen property recovered from this residence included lamps, bed linens, towels, furniture, flatware, china, and even a shower caddy and the victim’s shampoo.
Detectives are currently conducting further investigation to determine the whereabouts of additional stolen property, Trinidad’s involvement in other burglaries and anyone who
was associated with the Caudill Rd. burglary. There is no known connection between Trinidad and the victim at this time.
Trinidad was arrested and booked into Santa Cruz County jail for charges of: -Possession of stolen property
-Felon in possession of a handgun
-Possession of methamphetamine
-Under the influence of a controlled substance Trinidad’s bail is set at $25,000.00.
