APTOS, CA –Cabrillo College today announces that its Governing Board unanimously recommends Dr. Laurel Jones as the lead candidate for president and superintendent of Cabrillo College. The Board will vote on Dr. Jones’ contract at its June 10 meeting to be held at the Cabrillo College Scotts Valley Center, 104 Whispering Pines Drive, Scotts Valley. The proposed contract for Dr. Jones has a mid July start date.
“I am thrilled with our recommendation of Dr. Laurel Jones as Cabrillo’s next president and superintendent,” said Susan True, vice chair of the Cabrillo College Governing Board. “Amidst a strong field of candidates, Dr. Jones demonstrated herself to be a collaborative leader who truly cares about people and who has a deep sense of purpose for community college students.“
Dr. Laurel Jones has had a distinguished, 30-year career serving California’s Community Colleges. She is the president of Mission College in Santa Clara, a community college in the West Valley-Mission Community College District with an enrollment of approximately 10,000 students per year. Prior to that, she served as the vice president of academic services at Las Positas College in Livermore and as the vice president of academic affairs at Solano Community College. Before that, Dr. Jones was the dean of instruction at Mount San Jacinto College in Riverside County. She began her academic career as an instructor at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, California.
