The walkway for people on foot and bikes to cross Hwy 1 is taking shape, part of a $29 million project to build north and southbound auxiliary lanes and make bus-on-shoulder possible between 41st Avenue and Soquel Drive, thus reducing congestion.
The contractor is Granite Construction of Watsonville. Target completion is late 2025.
Full Overnight Closures of Hwy 1

Jan. 15: Northbound Hwy 1 was closed between 41st Avenue. and Soquel Drive between 10 pm and 4:30 am to accommodate crews building the working platform from which the new bicycle and pedestrian bridge overcrossing will be constructed. This project requires two nights of work and three nights closing Soquel Avenue.
One lane of southbound Hwy 1 is closed from 9 pm to 6 am.
Travelers were detoured on to Soquel Drive with delays of up to 10 minutes.
Jan. 16: Travelers encountered a full closure of southbound Hwy. 1 between Soquel Drive and 41st Avenue between 10 pm and 5:30 am. One lane of northbound Hwy 1 was closed from 9 pm to 5 am.
Travelers will be detoured on to Soquel Drive with delays of up to 10 minutes.

Full Overnight Closures of Soquel Ave.
Wednesday Jan. 17, Thursday Jan. 18, and possibly Sunday Jan. 21: Travelers will encounter a full closure of Soquel Ave. in both directions between 17th Avenue and Chanticleer Avenue between 10 pm and 5 am.
The detour is to 17th Ave., Rodriguez St., and Chanticleer Ave, before returning to Soquel Ave.

Daytime Ramp Closures
Jan. 16 thru Jan. 19: Daytime closure on one of two onramps to southbound Hwy. 1. The loop onramp to southbound Hwy. 1 from 41st Ave. may be closed from 9 am to 3 pm. Delays of up to 10 minutes.
Additionally, the onramp to southbound Hwy. 1 at Soquel Ave. may be closed from 9 am to 3 pm. Delays of up to 10 minutes.
Note: These onramp closures will alternate. At no time will these two ramps be closed at the same time.
