NOTICE of NIGHT WORK ON HIGHWAY 1
- Crews will continue to demolish and sort for recycling the center column from the old La Fonda overcrossing, affectionately called “Cruz Henge.” The center (fast) lanes of Highway 1 will be closed intermittently for two more nights between 9:00 pm and 7:00 am. At least one lane in each direction will remain open for all night work.
NEW LANES
- Traffic has now shifted and is now driving on portions of the new lanes. The top layer of the new lanes were paved using open-graded asphalt to reduce noise and improve drainage.
CENTER COLUMN OF NEW BRIDGE
- Work will start immediately on forming the footings for the new center column of the new La Fonda Avenue bridge. The steel and concrete for the new center columns will be completed by early May. Crews will then erect the false work for the center sections of the bridge, necessitating closure of the highway in alternating directions, always maintaining traffic flow in one direction. Advance notice will be provided as the date of that work approaches.
SOUNDWALLS
- Work will resume on the sound walls on the northbound side of highway by the end of the month and continue simultaneously with the bridge work.
SLOW FOR THE CONE ZONE
Speeds on the highway through the project area are reduced to 55 MPH, with traffic fines doubled in the construction zone. Please drive safely, use the zipper method to merge, exercise caution in construction and school zones, and allow extra travel time. Adjacent residents should expect noise and dust associated with the construction activity.
