Santa Cruz County’s largest watershed — the San Lorenzo River basin — had lured developers with the promise of a simple, low cost route to transport its wealth in timber products. In photographs and narrative, MacGregor will tell the story of that development layer by layer, leading up to the coming of the railroad in the 1870’s and Santa Cruz County’s emergence as one of the largest industrial producers in the State.
