Keith Henderson, a senior project manager at Barry Swenson Builder (BSB), will be the construction manager for the Aptos Village Project. “We’re proud of our work in Santa Cruz County and are thrilled to bring Aptos Village to the community in 2016,” Henderson said. Henderson, who lives in Santa Cruz with his wife, Regina, has been with BSB since 1993.
In addition to his work with the company, Henderson is a Rotarian, coaches high school mountain bikers in the Santa Cruz Junior Development program and has volunteer with ShelterBox, an organization that responds to disaster zones around the world with durable tent-housing and other emergency supplies, since 2009. Earlier this year, Henderson traveled to Malawi with ShelterBox to provide relief to flood victims.
The Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors approved the final subdivision maps for the Aptos Village Project during a meeting in early December. The approval makes it possible for Barry Swenson Builder to begin construction on the mixed-use development, which has been in the planning stages for more than a decade and was first approved by the county in 2012.
Early construction steps will include installing security fencing, moving a work trailer to the property and preparations for moving the historic Hihn Apple Barn to the center of the property, where it will be refurbished into a grocery store while maintaining historic elements and showcasing interpretive exhibits.
