Among the one hundred agents at Keller Williams Realty, 1414 Soquel Avenue, Santa Cruz, the team called Mulhern & Gomes Know Homes (MG4Homes) has distinguished itself in real estate. They have won the Good Times “Best Real Estate Business” award every year since this category was established. In the last four years, MG4Homes has been recognized as Best Realtor, Best Senior Care Real Estate Team and Best Real Estate Team.
This past May, Jeanne Mulhern – with fifteen years of real estate experience – and partner Kathie Gomes – thirteen years real estate experience – celebrated four years of their partnership, though they have known each other much longer. In addition to Jeanne and Kathie, MG4Homes has licensed REALTOR® and Broker Associate Mike Mulhern and Katherine Massena, REALTOR® on their team. Operations Manager Jodi Goldie, keeps the office running smoothly, while Glenda Whitlow, REALTOR® and Transaction Coordinator, facilitates the paperwork.
The benefit of having a team is that clients get four experienced agents working for them making sure that clients will be helped even when their agent may be unavailable. Each agent has available to them the client’s transaction status so that they know what kind of help he/she may need making sure nothing will fall through the cracks.
With MG4Homes, each team member’s background and experience compliments each other. In addition to working with both sellers and buyers, Jeanne leads the team’s marketing. Kathie, formerly a software engineer, is the analytical force and works with investors as well as home sellers. Each member of the team takes pride in being real estate educators and consultants as well as qualified sales people. Jeanne, Kathie and Mike have earned the designation SRES (Senior Real Estate Specialist) and all members of the team consistently participate in ongoing education.
The overall goal of the MG4Homes team is to establish long-term relationships with their clients so that when he or she hears of a friend or neighbor that needs help with real estate, they will be certain to think of MG4Homes and Jeanne and Kathie’s team.
Jeanne and Kathie have developed what they call their “Concierge Service” that includes an extensive list of qualified service providers such as lenders, home inspectors, plumbers, contractors, pest control, roofers, attorneys; anything a person might need to know or have done to sell a property.
A specialty of MG4Homes helping people who have inherited a property, and then must sell it through the probate or trustee legal process. This “Concierge Service” and its coordinating various specialty service providers to prepare a home for sale on behalf of the heirs, results in greater return on the investment.
Their service is especially beneficial for those who live out of the area and find it difficult to manage or do what is necessary to sell. Oftentimes a property is in need of significant repairs before it can reasonably be put on the market and expect a fair market price.
One example of how this service works involved a local trust attorney whose client/heirs lived on the East Coast. The attorney contacted Kathie and Jeanne regarding selling the inherited property.
They then spoke with the heirs who initially wanted to sell the property “as is” and divide the profits among the heirs. Kathie and Jeanne persuaded them instead to repair the property. With their “Concierge Service” they helped them find a lender that loaned them the money necessary for the repairs. MG4Homes was then able to sell the property for enough to not only pay back the loan, but in addition the heirs realized an additional $120,000 for the property proving that MG4Homes works to meet their client’s individual needs whether buying or selling property.
In their private lives, both Kathie and Jeanne like to cook. Jeanne often volunteers in her community and she and Mike are on the board of the Scotts Valley Educational Foundation. They also enjoy traveling and spending time with their grandchildren in Colorado. Besides cooking, Kathie likes to garden and play golf with her husband.
