Free Webinar: Thursday, April 15
Are you a restaurant owner? Then don’t wait! Register now to learn how to get federal aid as the country closes in on fully reopening.
On Thursday, April 15, U.S. Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-Palo Alto) will host a webinar from 10-11 a.m. for restaurant owners and other food and beverage establishments in her Congressional District, which includes parts of Santa Cruz County.
The goal is to provide important information about the new $29 billion Restaurant Revitalization Fund grant program established under the recently passed $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan.
Julie Clowes, director of the Small Business Administration for Northern California, will assist in answering questions.
The Restaurant Revitalization Grants will provide economic relief to:
- Food Stands
- Food Trucks
- Food Carts
- Tasting Rooms
- Licensed facilities or premises of a beverage alcohol producer where the public may taste, buy or sample products
- … or any other similar establishment where people assemble for the primary purpose of being served food or drink.
Eligible establishments must be private companies with 20 or fewer locations.
Ineligible entities include state or local government-operated entities and publicly traded companies, as well as those entities with a pending Shuttered Venue Operators Grant application or have received a venue grant.
The restaurant industry has been hit especially hard by COVID. Across the U.S., more than one-in-six restaurants have closed permanently, and tens of thousands more have had to significantly scale down their operations.
These closures have left more than 2.3 million food service industry professionals without a job, more than any other sector.
In Santa Cruz County, food service jobs are down 40 percent compared to a year ago.
