Benefit concert celebrates Latin classical music and features Grammy-Nominated
Quartet San Francisco and tango dancers from Dancing with the Stars
Kicking off the start of summer, the Santa Cruz County Symphony is spicing things with ¡Fiesta! A Celebration of Latin Classical Music. This special concert to benefit the Symphony’s educational outreach programs takes place on Saturday, June 7, 8 pm at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium.
The concert will feature tango dance duo Sandor & Parissa, who were featured on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, the talented, young classical guitarist, Roberto Granados, the ever-popular, Grammy-Nominated Bay Area string sensation – Quartet San Francisco and of course, the fantastic musicians of the Santa Cruz County Symphony under the direction of Maestro Daniel Stewart. The evening’s musical program will include selections from Carmen and Rodrigo’s Concerto de Aranjuez and more!
Concert proceeds support the Symphony’s education programs. Each year the Symphony performs four free concerts to over 4,000 elementary students countywide. The Symphony also sends musicians into classrooms across the county to demonstrate craft and talk about classical music. A new program provides teachers with classical music kits to facilitate a daily classical music listening program which helps keep students calm and focused on their coursework.
¡Fiesta! is sure to be a really fun and exciting event, and attendance will help keep music in local elementary schools. Time to celebrate!
