On Tuesday, June 14, 2016 the Scotts Valley Host Lions Club installed its new officers before an audience of about 50. The event was held at the senior center in Skypark and included a dinner of delicious do-it-yourself tacos. The beef and chicken selections were grilled to perfection with lots of sides including beans, rice and lots of stuff (Tomatoes lettuce, cheese etc.) to stuff in your taco and top it off with guacamole, sour cream and salsa. (Sorry, can we do this again?)
The Year End Review was given by Karen Shipley who highlighted the Scotts Valley Host Lions Club many events and its ongoing support for Valley Churches United, Big Brother Big Sisters and the Boy Scouts. The major annual fundraising events are the Annual Crab Cioppino Feed and Dance, Annual Golf Tournament, Annual Bocce Ball Tournament, Annual Holiday Food Drive, and the White Cane Day Solicitation for the Sight and Hearing Fund.
Lion Steve Brown was awarded a District Governor’s Appreciation Award for his help with the District Convention the past few years. Lion Harvey Bustichi was awarded the Scotts Valley Host Lions Club Lion Of The Year award which is voted on by the members via secret ballot to honor outstanding service to our club and community for the past year.
The installation of new officers occurred after the dinner and the regular meeting and was presided over by Bruce McPherson, 5th District Supervisor. New officers for 2016-17 are Membership Chairman Karen Shipley, Treasurer Marc Winquist, Secretary Lisa Bustichi, and President Dene Bustichi.
