SANTA CRUZ — A 32-year-old Watsonville man has been arrested and charged with hit-and-run after striking a pedestrian with his car and leaving the scene.
The pedestrian, 42, was crossing the intersection at Highway 1 and River Street in Santa Cruz, inside the crosswalk, when the accident occurred around 8:50 p.m. The pedestrian was severely injured and taken to a trauma center for treatment.
Santa Cruz police arrived at the scene, interviewed witnesses and reviewed information from Automatic License Plate Readers placed throughout the county to locate the suspect at his home the next day.
Arturo Guerrero was charged with felony hit-and-run resulting in injury and driving with a suspended license.
