Our mission at Vista Center is to serve blind and visually impaired residents of Santa Cruz County and their families, enabling them to achieve their highest potential for independence and quality of life. Vista Center serves all residents regardless of their ability to pay. Contributions from businesses and private individuals are crucial to continuing services and programs that enable individuals to regain self-reliance and increase their ability to contribute to the success of the community in which they live.
We help individuals who have lost some or all of their vision learn new ways of living with this vision loss through programs and services such as: training in independent living skills; orientation and mobility training; special low vision examinations with an evaluation of optical aids; individual and group support programs for clients and their families; social recreation; The Store, offering products for those who are blind or visually impaired; The Health Library; the Internet Café, a place where clients can use computers which are equipped with accessible software for magnification and screen reading; and vision seminars in the community such as our annual Low Vision Expo.
