Parents of 5th graders at Main Street School in Soquel are putting on a fundraising concert, Rock for Science, to benefit 5th grade Science Camp. The concert will be Friday, January 30 from 6 – 8 p.m. at New Brighton Middle School’s theater.
The musical performers will be: Mr. Jones, a retired Main Street teacher, the beautiful voice of Katie Ekin, and the young band, Slime, comprised of 7th and 8th graders, two of whom are Main Street Alumni.
In addition, there will be pizza available for purchase from Pleasure Pizza, popcorn, refreshments, and an assortment of delicious baked goods. A raffle will also be taking place with some amazing prizes donated from local retailers, restaurants and businesses.
The 5th grade parents are having this fundraiser to help pay the tuition to Science Camp. The Soquel Union School District does not pay the tuition, the students families do. Every year the 5th graders do fundraisers to cover the cost. This year we need to raise $5,000 by March for all 5th graders to attend Science Camp.
Admission to the concert is $10 at the door or you can pre-order discounted tickets (family rates available) and pizza online at: tinyurl.com/rockforscience
This concert is not just for our school but for our community as well. Bring your family and friends for a fun night with music, food, raffle, face painting and dancing.
